Three Weeks !!

Third week in Rome and what a week! My birthday was on thursday and it was a truly amazing day. My family gave me gifts and prepared a beautiful dinner with a cake, gifts, and as always delicious pasta. I didn't expect to receive so much attention and love from all of them. I went to school with a cake prepared by Giovanna to share with my whole class, I was hesitant at first since I would never take a cake prepared by myself or by a member of my family to school back home (it is more common for your friends to take a cake instead). After a day of 'auguri' and even a bracelet as a gift from one of my friends I went back home to have lunch with Paolo (my host dad). Then I went shopping with my sister Silvia to Via del Corso. At night my Australian friend Tess and 'il nonno' came over for dinner, where I made a wish and blew out the candles that said '17'. Tess slept over and the next day we woke up early to go to school. It is hard to describe a day like this and the feelings that I felt in a blog, but it was magnificent. I hope that word explains in someway how amazing my experience in this country and this family is resulting to be. Today (domenica)  I went with Tess to San Pietro. Although we had the intention to go up to the dome and take pictures there was a great quantity of people waiting and we did not feel like making the line. We still admired the greatness of the architecture from down below. We then came back to my house and watched 'La Vita é bella'. It's the second time I watch it here, but it is such a masterpiece that I would not mind watching it a million times. Well that is the most memorable parts of this past week, now I must go to bed because tomorrow there is a long day of school and later the an evening of studying and visiting the gym with my sister! :)

Two weeks since my arrival in Rome !

I can't believe it has only been 14 days, it feels like so much more. Orientation, getting settled with my family, first day of school, all in such a short amount of time. I could not feel more at home, my Italian family is wonderful. Apart from being incredibly blessed with the opportunity of living this experience, I am also lucky because of the location and the people AFS has assigned me to live with. Since I am not used to writing a blog and I am a bit of a perfectionist this first post will be short, if not I will spend the next hour searching for the exact words to describe my current feelings when I dont think they all truly exist. Some say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so I will post here some to show what I have done and where I have been until now :)
